Places to see
Nordkette
A cable railway from the middle of the city to 2,300 m in twenty minutes. Few places let you go from a coffee to an alpine ridge that fast.
Goldenes Dachl
A balcony roofed with 2,657 fire-gilded copper tiles, built in 1500 so Maximilian I could watch tournaments in the square below.
2 recorded so far. We hold what each one is and how long to give it, and deliberately not its opening hours or price.
Things to do
City to summit in twenty minutes
Tram, funicular and two cable cars take you from a café table to 2,256 metres of exposed ridge; take a jacket you would not think you needed.
Events
Nationwide fixtures, not tied to one destination. The whole European year is on /events.
Christkindlmarkt
Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck
Travel tips
Practical things about Austria that are not obvious from outside it.
- In a coffee house you are buying the table, not the coffee; nobody will rush you.
- Mountain huts (Hütten) need booking and cash, and lights go out early.
- Sunday closing is near-total outside stations and tourist areas.
Accommodation & restaurants
EuropeDoor lists neither, yet. Both are business listings rather than editorial entries: they need an operator who claims them, a verification tier and a way to keep prices current, and all three are blocked on the same thing as everything else commercial here. How listings will work · what is built and what is blocked.
Publishing a scraped hotel list would be quick and would be the first unverified thing on this site. That is the trade being refused.
Nearest onward stops
Straight-line distance, and what that usually means in practice.

Europe Experience Score
How this is calculated — derived from our own tagging, not from measurement. It says what a place is for, not how good it is. The tick on each bar is the median across the whole Atlas, so a bar short of it is a dimension this place is not for.
