What this site is, what it is not, and what its facts are worth.

This is a pre-launch draft, and it says so rather than pretending

There is no incorporated company behind EuropeDoor yet, so there is no legal person to be bound by this document and no data controller to be accountable under it. What follows is the position we intend to take, published early so it can be argued with — it is not a contract, and it will be reviewed by a lawyer and re-issued in the name of a real entity before anything on this site collects a payment or a personal detail.

What this site is

An editorial reference work about travel in Europe, published free of charge. It is not a travel agent, not a tour operator, not a booking service and not a financial service. Nothing on it constitutes an offer, and no contract can be formed here because there is nothing to buy.

Accuracy, stated plainly

The dataset behind this site was written editorially and has not been through a source-by-source verification pass. The freshness board publishes, per country, when a person last checked the practical facts — and today the answer for most of them is "never". Costs are estimates from published bands, not quotes. Distances are straight lines. Scores are computed from our own tags by a published formula.

Check the official source for anything that matters: your government's travel advice, the destination's border authority, and the operator's own site for anything you intend to turn up for.

What you may do with it

  • Read it, quote it with attribution, link to it, and print it for your own trip.
  • Not scrape it wholesale to reconstitute the dataset elsewhere. The writing is the work; the structure is the product.
  • Not present it as your own, or as verified, or as advice.

Liability

To the extent the law allows once there is an entity to be liable, this material is provided as it is. Travel decisions are yours. Where a page and an official source disagree, the official source is right and we would like to be told.
