Charles Bridge
Fourteenth-century, thirty baroque statues, and so crowded by ten in the morning that the only honest advice is to walk it at dawn or after midnight.
Prague Castle
Not a castle so much as a walled hill town that has been the seat of Bohemian kings, Holy Roman emperors and Czech presidents in turn. St Vitus Cathedral is inside it.
Josefov, the Jewish Quarter
Six synagogues and a cemetery where twelve thousand headstones lean against each other because the ground was reused for three hundred years and there was nowhere else to bury.
Vyšehrad and the river bend
The other castle rock, south along the Vltava, with a neo-gothic basilica and the national cemetery. Locals come here to avoid the crowds at the first one.
