The Alentejo & the South, Portugal
Lagos & the Algarve
Golden cliffs, sea caves and the harbour that launched the age of exploration — and, less proudly, Europe's first slave market.
Lagos & the Algarve is at 37.100°N, 8.670°W.

Travel tips
Practical things about Portugal that are not obvious from outside it.
- The couvert — bread, olives, cheese put on your table — is charged unless you send it back.
- Fado has two schools, Lisbon's and Coimbra's, and neither is background music.
- Atlantic beaches have real currents; the flag system is enforced and worth obeying.
Accommodation & restaurants
EuropeDoor lists neither, yet. Both are business listings rather than editorial entries: they need an operator who claims them, a verification tier and a way to keep prices current, and all three are blocked on the same thing as everything else commercial here. How listings will work · what is built and what is blocked.
Publishing a scraped hotel list would be quick and would be the first unverified thing on this site. That is the trade being refused.

Europe Experience Score
How this is calculated — derived from our own tagging, not from measurement. It says what a place is for, not how good it is. The tick on each bar is the median across the whole Atlas, so a bar short of it is a dimension this place is not for.
